Dean’s Message

“Welcome to Wajdi University Collage of Technology (WUCT). As Dean/ Director, I am often asked, “What makes WUCT so special?”

WUCT was founded in 2004 as the first and the only college located in the heart of the Holy City of Jerusalem to offer a Bachelor Degree in Computer and Information Technology (CIT). This B.Sc. Award is certified by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Palestine. Since its foundation, WUCT has followed the educational principle that students should be educated through a carefully and systematically designed curriculum which is broad enough to adapt to the changing world.

Many case studies in the disciplines of Computer and Information Technology showed that there is an urgent need in the local labour market for such disciplines due to the evolution and the rapid spread of their use in all professional applications. These applications include the governmental and private institutions such as educational services and now even extend to home. The Palestinian Ministry of Education had worked extensively to catch up with the progress and the development of this field therefore it has enforced a module for Introduction to Computing as a compulsory course in all educational institutions.

The Ministry launched the initiative of Palestinian Education with aim of strengthening the Palestinian Education System. This could be done through adding means for education supported by technology which contributes in preparing human resources capable of contributing in the socio-economic development. The initiative when implemented would help in the utilization of information and communication technology in the existing education system. 

The Board of Trustees continuously looks after the college and provides all the necessary resources to ensure that the college maintains progress and has distinguished alumni. The college is thriving today, with its dedicated staff, robust student body, and outstanding faculty members who are committed to academic excellence and relevant teaching. They are always dedicated to helping students explore their possibilities and achieve their potential. In addition there are fully equipped scientific laboratories which are up to date and are comparable to those found in the best colleges and universities. And because our campus atmosphere is friendly and open, we know our students and interact with them on a personal basis. All of us at WUCT gain from this close interaction. Students appreciate and respond to the expectations, opportunities and responsibilities of learning. Faculty and staff, in turn, feel privileged to teach, interact and support committed students.

The creativity-enhancing education at WUCThas resulted in a good number of excellent graduates with innovative graduation projects More importantly, they graduate knowing how to research, how to learn and how to apply their learning. Our brand of education emphasizes the application of knowledge while leading students to independent learning and career-readiness. Therefore, we always welcome talented and motivated students and faculty members.

In addition to its academic role, the college has made important steps in the direction of serving the Palestinian society, upgrading the technical sides in the segments of the society, opening new disciplines that meet the needs of the community, and hopes to become the incubator for those wishing to excel in various fields of scientific fields.  

There is no doubt that the efforts have produced high level of work that our country and our people are proud of. The coming years will see developments in various fields with the efforts towards excellence in knowledge.
